Some heavyweights of recent boxing history including Nigeria’s Samuel ‘the Nigerian Nightmare’ Peter will throw a few jabs and hooks for charity March 20 in Monterey at Garcia Boxing’s third annual “Celebrity Boxing Event,” a benefit for the Kinship Center of Monterey County.

Nigeria’s King Davidson Emenogu on Saturday won an unanimous decision against current Fuji champion Zulfikar Joy Ali when both southpaws contested for the Pan Asia Boxing Association title (PABA) in a 12-round three minutes challenge, making him (Emenogu) the new PABA champion.

Freddie Roach, trainer of WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, is certainly intrigued with the possibility of a fight with Shane Mosley – if Mosley beats Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 1 in Las Vegas.

Although boxing coach Freddie Roach is confident that Manny Pacquiao will demolish Joshua Clottey, he sees a very hard fight for both boxers.

According to Floyd Mayweather Jr, his May 1 opponent Shane Mosley is a ‘desperate’ man. Mayweather, who finally comes face to face with; Sugar’ Shane 10 years after Mosley initially declined the fight, has also accused Mosley of only accepting the fight to grab one last big pay at the age of 38.

Joshua Clottey has yet to forgive Ghanaian boxing officials and even government for their inability to help him secure visa for his preferred trainer to travel with him to the USA. With exactly a month to go for his big chance against Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao in Dallas on March 13, Clottey is preparing without Godwin Dzanie Kotey.

Former world champions Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones will meet in April in a rematch of their middleweight fight 17 years ago.  Hopkins, who has a record of 50-5-1, with 32 knockouts, has been looking for a rematch with Jones since May 1993 in Washington, DC, when Jones beat him by unanimous decision for the vacant IBF title.

Shane Mosley’s attorney has confirmed that his client has signed a contract to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr on May 1, possibly at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.  Mosley’s attorney Judd Burstein told the Los Angeles Times: “It’s a fight people have wanted to see for a long time, but never happened for whatever reasons.
