The Super Eagles are expected to land early Thursday morning in Tunis ahead of their Saturday clash in the country but the technical crew seem to have made up their mind on the likely start list for Nigeria going by training reports made exclusive to SportsDay from their Malta training camp.

Our reporter gathered from camp sources that despite deputy skipper, Joseph Yobo’s absence in the Malta camp, the technical crew may have decided that he would pair Dele Adeleye ahead of the duo of Danny Shittu and Sam Sodje in the heart of the Eagles defence. “One of Shittu and Sodje, was always used in training and that means that the technical crew thinks that any of the two could fit in. But more importantly, it means that they are telling the duo that none of them may feature from the start of the game and that means, it’s Yobo and Adeleye in the heart of Eagles defence.

We also gathered the midfield is one area that the coaching crew is finding difficult to make choices as all the players in the department seem to be in glittering form. Amodu has to pick from Seyi Olofinjana, John Mikel Obi, Kalu Uche, Ogbuke Obasi, Dickson Etuhu and skipper Nwankwo Kanu, who can strike as well as play the creative midfield role.

There were also indications that full backs Elderson Echejile and Adefemi Olubayo, may start ahead of Taiye Taiwo and Yusuf Mohammed, as they have demonstrated their readiness for the task at hand in training. The strike role seem to have also been reserved for the duo of Mike Eneramo and Ikechukwu Uche, while Osaze Odemwengie, will retain his wide role on either the right or left of the midfield. Though, Amodu is still keeping his plans close to his chest until his final technical meeting with Daniel Amokachi, other coaches and skipper Kanu.

I am happy with the starting

I am happy with the starting line up against Tunisia-Yobo and Adeleye in central defence.I think Adeleye is ready and should be tried. He is a mobile defender since this is required in mordern football for the central defender to take on bulky and fast strikers.Remember Rigobert Song of Cameroun. However Yobo should keep his concentration all the time as he has the tendency to relax or loss concentration sometime. Why was Ordia dropped? I think he is a good full back but his style of play makes him injury prone. We should think of a left full back because Taiwo is not consistent.Someone should be trained to take free kicks because Taiwo is not good at free kicks.

I am concerned about a statement credited to Amodu that the midfield does not win games.Dead wrong.Barcelona beat Man U because of their midfield. The mid field is where attacks are launched and opponents attacks cut out. Therefore Amodu should thick seriously about our mid field if we are to make any impact in the qualifications and the world cup proper.
Unfortunately we have too many defensive midfielders and no play makers.
But we can convert an attacker or bring in a natural play maker.
My candidates for this position are Mikel,Haruna capt of the under 20 team,Nsanga of the cup winning u17 team,Kalu uche or any other creative midfielder who has dribbling and ball carrying skills.Mikel can play that role since Essien plays as an attacking midfielder,a defensive midfielder and a defender.Manage Haruna and we have a very good playmaker.

Attack has never been our problem, We have ik uche,Emenero,Ogbuke, martins,Yakubu and akpala and many more.
