Zimbabwe Cricket Team Storm W/Indies

Zimbabwe Cricket Team Storm W/Indies THE Zimbabwe senior cricket team with players still fresh from the Stanbic Bank Twenty20 Series left for the West Indies in high spirits yesterday eager to give the hosts a good run.

The 30-member squad, comprising the cream of the players who have been involved in the domestic competitions, will play one Twenty20 match and five One-Day Internationals during the three-week tour.

Walter Chawaguta will lead the team in his last assignment before handing the reins over to Alan Butcher who was appointed new head coach. The Zimbabwe side, which is still battling to raise its profile on the international arena after years of decline, is expected to be in the West Indies by Thursday and play their only warm-up match against UWI Chancellor’s XI on Friday.

The tour comes against the backdrop the successful Stanbic Bank Twenty20 Series played at the Harare Sports Club last week.
